The Revival Of TVR - The 2018 Griffith | The Insane Car - Flamboyance GT


I love TVR. TVRs are just unlike anything else. They are different. They are effective. The traditional formula has always been rather simple. A lightweight fibreglass body coupled with a monster of an engine and a chassis which makes sure it burns an abyss in your wallet.

But its not just that. TVRs were just, silly. They were flamboyant. They looked amazing, but were never poser cars. They were handmade for a true sports car enthusiast who did not want to spend his money on a Ferrari, but on something which provided more bang for your buck.

Unfortunately to the dismay of us petrolheads, they ended up shutting down. But the days we waited for all along have finally arrived. TVR is back. Soon, their new model would start rolling off of the production line. They named it, "Griffith" after an already successful model earlier. (It would be my pleasure to sketch and write about that one.)

Ok, so the new Griffith. I have to say that it keeps things traditional, TVR style, while still being modern and fresh. And to our delight, a 5 litre Coyote V8 from Ford attached to a manual gearbox. The engine is a Cosworth unit tuned to 500 ponies.

What's more is that the classic mad interior design remains. The 2018 Griffith is definitely a step in the right direction because when it comes to TVR, its all about the insane driving experience and not the numbers on paper.

Finally I can forget that the word, 'serious' exists in the dictionary before I write about a car. And yes, the word, "car" may not be the first thing that comes to mind when one sees the Peel P50. The Ferrari 348 - The Most Underrated and Hated Ferrari Of Flamboyance? | The Super Car - Flamboyance GT

The Ferrari 348 was a huge style evolution, but not quite a revolution for Ferrari. Back then, the 308 and the 328 were known for their boxy wedge shape. Now don't get me wrong. The wedge shape is iconic, but the 308 and the 328 looked rather, well... like something was missing. They weren't even selling in really good numbers for their time. Enter the 348. This car brought back the same wedge shape, but with a huge difference. They say it is often the little things which make the greatest impact. It holds true and this car did just that. It is often surprising how adding a few curves can nearly revolutionize an often repeated design. What's more is the insane 80's style side streaks. Even the rear taillights had a similar design. All of this were echoeing design cues from the iconic Testarossa. The 348 was often called, "The baby Testarossa" as it was similar in design in a lot of ways, but just smaller. The Rolls-Royce Ghost Or The Phantom? Are The Differences Only Skin Deep? | Flamboyance GT

Since 2009 to the present day, Rolls-Royce has had 2 main models in its lineup (excluding the Cullinan SUV, which was a more recent addition) ; The flagship Phantom and The Ghost, with cars like the Wraith, Coupe, Drophead Coupe and the Dawn being derivatives of them. But I have always felt that the Ghost is a car that is quite misunderstood. And this goes all the way back to the beginnings of Rolls-Royce itself. When Sir Henry Royce had the original Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost built between 1906 and 1907 to 1926, it was named so not by the company, but by the press and all those who experienced it, because the official demonstrator car happened to be silver in colour and the engine was so quiet and refined in comparison to its contemporaries that it felt like a ghost was transporting them on a 'Magic carpet'.
