The Aston Martin DB5 - Revered Class | Flamboyance GT

When it comes to iconic film cars, one overshadows the rest. One overpowers the rest. One crushes the rest. I'm talking about the Aston Martin DB5, which starred in Goldfinger and Thunderball, piloted to stardom by Sir Sean Connery.

It is classy. It is exactly what you would expect from an Aston Martin. A gentleman's express. But something more important. It's bold. I'll tell you what I mean. Take a look at it. To some eyes, It may be beautiful, and to some others, maybe not so much. But one aspect is common for both of these types of beholders. The DB5 is a bold design move, which turned out just right.

It has a properly classic English straight six displacing 4 litres. It is a beating heart well ahead of its time. Why? Nearly 300 English ponies in 1963 was absolutely unheard of, in a road car. Think about it. Bond would have required all of it. Now, let's put this in perspective. The Lamborghini Miura , which was unveiled to shocked, yet delighted eyes three years later was proclaimed, "The World's Fastest Car". At that time, of course. The Lamborghini had a V12 engine designed by the skilled mind of Giotto Bizzarini, displacing the same capacity. The difference in power? Only somewhere around 60 stallions.

With three giant carburettors, it could do 150 miles an hour flat out. Only 1059 were ever made, which included the super exclusive Volante version with only 123 ever made. This is an exclusive rarity.

Now let's talk about the movie car. Or rather cars. That is because 2 were made for filming James Bond. But the original one laden with all of the gadgets, which were actually functional by the way, got stolen in 1997. Interesting, isn't it? The most famous and iconic car to hit the silver screen was allowed to be stolen. Simply. Just like that. This is just like the Holy Grail. They seem to have finally made Jesus proud. The other one, was auctioned and was bought by a collector for a commendable 2.6 million pounds.

Now, let's get to something fascinating. As I'm sitting here, writing, I have made an observation. I do not have a lot of words to describe this beauty. Or is it the beast? I'll never know of it. At least, for now. At least, until the moment I sit on the aged leather seats with the patina mysteriously showcasing many untold stories, while gripping the steering wheel made with the finest wood from England, beholding the stunning view in front of me.

Lots of memories to be made, with the finest one being the remembrance that all of this is mine. All mine.
